Advertorial: IATMI makes courtesy visit to Director General of Oil and Gas in relation to 2023 IATMI-APOGCE Business Forum

The Indonesia Petroleum Engineers Association (or IATMI) and the organizing committee of the 2023 IATMI-APOGCE (Asia Petroleum Geoscience Conference and Exhibition) made a courtesy visit to the Directorate General of Oil and Gas in connection with the planned business forum and to request Director General of Oil and Gas Prof. Ir. Tutuka Ariadji, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU to become one of the key speakers.

The 2023 IATMI - APOGCE business forum will be held on 9 October 2023 at the Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, with a theme “Strategy for a Sustainable and Decarbonized Future in Upstream Oil and Gas”.

The IATMI courtesy visit was attended by Director General of Oil and Gas Prof. Ir. Tutuka Ariadji, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU;  Director of Upstream Oil and Gas Management Noor Arifin Muhammad ST., M.Sie.; and the directorate general’s staff.

In the meeting, IATMI was represented by  Ms. Inge Sondaryani – Secretary General Of IATMI 2022-2025, Mr. Firmansyah Arifin – Chair of the 2023 IATMI-APOGCE Business Forum Committee, who conveyed in general the details of the activities of the 2023 APOGCE Business Forum and specifically requested the willingness of the Director General of Oil and Gas to become one of the speakers of the 2023 IATMI-APOGCE Business Forum.

Apart from expressing his support and willingness to be a speaker at this event, Prof. Ir. Tutuka Ariadji, M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU - Director General of Oil and Gas also provided input and direction to the organizing committee so that this Business Forum would not only be packaged in the form of discussion, but this Business Forum would later be able to produce MOUs between relevant stakeholders in the application of CCS/CCUS technology to reduce carbon emissions. The Director General of Oil and Gas said that currently there are 15 projects that are focused on implementing CCS/CCUS including Pertamina Hulu Energi, BP, and ExxonMobil. In order to realize the realization of new business opportunities, he also advised the implementing committee to invite parties directly related to this business, namely SKK MIGAS, PSC Contractors, Fiscal Policy Agency (BKF), KLHK and other business actors.

At the end of the session, the 2023 IATMI-APOGCE organizing committee submitted the Terms of Reference (TOR) document to the Director General of Oil and Gas symbolically as a form of support from the Directorate General of Oil and Gas to IATMI in organizing the 2023 APOGCE Business Forum. The meeting was closed with a joint photo session between IATMI and the Director General of Oil and Gas and the directorate general’s staff.
