Position: Civil / Structural Field Engineer

Role Purpose:

The Civil/Structural Engineer is responsible for designing, planning, and overseeing construction projects to ensure structural integrity, safety, and compliance with industry standards. This role requires expertise in engineering principles, project coordination, and safety regulations, particularly within the mining industry. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, manage project resources, and ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery. Key responsibilities include reviewing designs, supervising construction activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, and utilizing advanced engineering software for analysis and modelling.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Design & Planning

o Develop and review civil/structural designs and drawings.

o Ensure compliance with engineering standards, industry codes, and client requirements.

o Utilize engineering software such as AutoCAD 2D/3D, SAP, STAAD.Pro, and Plaxis for analysis and modeling.

• Project Execution & Management

o Oversee construction activities to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with safety standards.

o Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to streamline project execution.

o Manage resources, including materials, manpower, and equipment, for efficient project delivery.

• Safety & Compliance

o Ensure adherence to safety work permits such as hot work permits, excavation permits, and confined space permits.

o Uphold safety standards through relevant training and certifications.

o Identify and mitigate potential risks in construction and structural integrity.

• Team Coordination & Leadership

o Guide and support team members in project execution.

o Foster collaboration across departments and with external stakeholders.

o Promote a culture of safety, integrity, and excellence within the team.

• Technical Expertise & Continuous Improvement

o Stay updated with industry advancements and best practices in civil/structural engineering.

o Provide technical support and troubleshooting for project-related challenges.

o Recommend improvements to engineering designs and construction methodologies for enhanced efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• At least 10 years of experience in Civil/Structural Engineering, preferably in the mining or oil & gas industry.

• Strong teamwork and effective communication skills.

• Upholds core values of safety, integrity, commitment, respect, and excellence.

• Competency includes completion of relevant safety training, safety certification, piping engineering certification, and other applicable skill training (preferred).

• Knowledgeable and experienced in safety work permits, including hot work permits, excavation permits, and confined space permits.

• Capable of organizing and managing team members and resources to execute multiple projects efficiently.

• Ability to coordinate effectively across different sections, departments, and with clients.

• Proven ability to deliver projects on schedule or ahead of schedule, within budget, and with a strong emphasis on safety.

• Proficient in Civil/Structural engineering software, including AutoCAD 2D/3D, SAP, STAAD.Pro, Plaxis, and other relevant tools.
