Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Tapper and Skimmer Advisor/Mentor to join our team. This role focuses on ensuring safe and efficient tapping and skimming operations while providing mentorship and guidance to operators. The successful candidate will lead by example, uphold safety protocols, and ensure adherence to established procedures during all operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Tasks

• Prepare and execute tapping and skimming activities, including clay tap application.

• Safely loading clay into the TMT.

• Perform equipment and area inspections before tasks, ensuring adherence to safety standards.

• Open and close tapping/skimming processes using TMT, lancing, and manual methods (e.g., clay bud).

• Ensure all tools and work areas are safe and properly maintained before leaving the site.

• Address issues arising during tapping and skimming operations promptly and effectively.

Safety Compliance

• Adopt and enforce PTFI safe work practices and procedures, ensuring zero tolerance for deviations.

• Conduct pre-task inspections, including equipment checks, area inspections, and PPE readiness.

• Stop operations immediately if unsafe conditions or deviations from established procedures occur.

• Mitigate risks of exposure to hot liquids, gases, or falls during work inspections and operations.

Training and Mentorship

• Coach and mentor new operators, fostering a culture of safety and procedural compliance.

• Set a positive example through adherence to safety protocols and work procedures.

• Ensure training includes critical aspects such as area inspection, equipment checks, and PPE utilization.

Equipment Management

• Verify the safety and functionality of all equipment prior to operation.

• Report any equipment issues or safety concerns immediately.

• Familiarize operators with induction processes for hydraulic systems, mudgun & drill TMT, matte/slag holes, and water-cooling systems.

Emergency Response

• Follow all emergency protocols, including LOTOTO, working at heights, confined spaces, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and emergency calls.

Requirements

• Proven experience in tapping and skimming operations, preferably in industrial or mining environments.

• Strong knowledge of safety protocols, including PPE standards and handling hot materials.

• Familiarity with equipment such as hydraulic systems, mudgun & drill TMT, and cooling systems.

• Excellent leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills.

• Ability to identify and address safety or operational issues effectively.

• Commitment to safety, with a proactive approach to mitigating risks.

• Prior experience as a mentor or advisor in similar operations.
