Background

Growth in coal consumption in domestic is projected to improve later this year with several end-users, including petrochemical, cement, fertilizer industries and smelter development plan to start capacity expansion that would offer new opportunities for coal suppliers.

The country's biggest user of coal, PT PLN also plans to realize the development of coal-fired power plant across the country. Under the new business and procurement plan (RUPTL) period of 2018-2027, PLN is set to develop new power plants with a total capacity of 56 GW by 2027 with coal portion was to reach 54.4 percent in 2025.

Domestic market obligations are likely to increase over the medium term, as the government looks to contain production and conserve coal resources for local power needs.

Elsewhere in Asia, demand for coal is also keep promising, particularly in new markets of ASEAN countries and traditional buyers of China, India and Japan.

The conference would gather coal buyers, suppliers, traders and technology providers to find out more about trend of coal supply and demand in domestic market and Asia region in coming years as well as the latest development in mining technology

The conference would give participants a great networking opportunity and chance to hear how the mining companies in Indonesia to go about their strategic planning in 2019 as the coal price showed positive trend in the recent months.

The conference would be held concurrently with the Mining Technology and Logistic Expo, showcasing the latest mining technology, particularly aimed to supporting the government's plan to promote coal downstream industry.
